When it comes to his career, Andre Stevens is chasing after more than a higher salary or prestigious title. He’s pursuing opportunities that will allow him to have an impact.
That influence can come in the form of mentoring his team or helping clients reach their strategic goals, just as long as he’s making a difference.
“That’s what gets me up every day, knowing that I’m coming in to make an impact,” the University of Missouri–St. Louis alumnus said. “I feel that every day that I get up and come to the office I am making an impact, whether it be on the client front and what they are ultimately trying to accomplish or whether it be helping my teammates out.”
With an insider role in some of the largest acquisitions in St. Louis during the last 10 years, Stevens’ mark on the business community is evident.
Employers have taken notice of Stevens’ drive and talents as he’s climbed his way up to a principal–engagement manager role with Daughtery Business Solutions. There he’s been entrusted with the company’s largest account, Charter Communications.
The St. Louis Business Journal also recently recognized Stevens’ career accomplishments when he was named to the publication’s 40 under 40 class for 2018.
Stevens, who earned his BSBA from UMSL’s College of Business Administration in 2001, is honored to make the cut.
“If you look at the people who have been on the list, the alumni, they are truly the movers and shakers in the St. Louis area,” said Stevens, who was one of 500 nominees for the 2018 class. “It’s exciting but also humbling to know that I’m looked at as a leader and to be considered of the same caliber as some of those leaders. I’m very humbled.”
Prior to assisting Charter with technological initiatives following its purchase of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Network, Stevens worked on integrating operation systems for Express Scripts after its acquisition of Medco Health Solutions in 2012. He had similar experiences working for Wells Fargo Advisors when it purchased Wachovia and for Anheuser-Busch when it was bought by InBev in 2008.
After a decade in the mergers and acquisitions space, Stevens is still excited by the industry and is eager share the knowledge he’s gained with others.
“The road that I’ve taken to get here, it hasn’t been a road that I’ve necessarily taken by myself,” Stevens said. “I’ve had mentors along the way that have encouraged and guided me, ultimately leading me into the role I’m in now.
“One of the things I’m most proud of is my path of how I’ve made it here. It’s truly been hard work with a lot of encouragement along the way. Now I’m in spot where I can help other people that are seeking out new opportunities or seeking to do what I do.”
