‘Catfish’ on campus: Documentary star Nev Schulman to speak at UMSL

In the 2010 documentary “Catfish,” Nev Schulman famously tracked down the online paramour who had duped him into a cyber relationship. The film spawned an MTV reality series and solidified the term “catfish” in the American lexicon as a person who pretends to be someone they’re not, using social media to create a false identity, particularly to pursue deceitful online romances.

The countdown’s begun. Fall semester classes at the University of Missouri–St. Louis start Monday and campus activity has moved to warp speed in anticipation of the students’ arrival. A few renovations and office moves are still under way.

It’s being touted as an evening of art, music and networking at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. The Gallery Visio Student Association is hosting an event at the CAM for students of the University of Missouri–St. Louis from 6 – 9 p.m. April 19. The event is for students ages 21 and older. The dress code is semi-formal to formal. There will be a cash bar available for guests

Ever wonder where elementary and secondary teachers go after the kids leave? On any given day, you can find more than 100 of them in their role as graduate students at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. They spend two and a half hours in class, grab a snack from a vending machine and wait for the next class to begin. Add hundreds more nursing and optometry students doing the same thing and some of them might get cranky.
