The St. Louis Business Journal’s annual 40 Under 40 Awards, which celebrates the region’s burgeoning business leaders, featured UMSL alumni Jessica Cross, Stephanie Korpal and Maggie Rapplean. Under the leadership of Cross, MBE & WBE Certified, a commercial construction firm, has grown to a seven-figure corporation. Korpal is a licensed professional counselor and an entrepreneur who founded Marble Wellness in 2018 after serving as an assistant director at Epworth Children and Family Services. Rapplean made partner at Moneta in January, launching her own team, and graduated with her MBA in May.
Local news outlets, including St. Louis Public Radio and Missouri Business Alert, and national outlets, such as WIA Report, covered UMSL alum Lúcia G. Lohmann’s appointment as president of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Lohmann earned a PhD in biology with an emphasis in ecology, evolution and systematics from UMSL in 2003, and she will be the first woman to serve as president of the institution.
The St. Louis American profiled Princess Stormm, a communication alum, who recently celebrated 15 years in the radio industry. She currently serves as the assistant director for Hot 104.1 and 96.3 R&B for the Lou. During her dynamic career, she has interviewed A-list celebrities, shared diverse stories with her St. Louis audience and partnered with organizations such as the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to bring much-needed resources to the community.
