Multiple local outlets, including the Belleville News Democrat, Missouri Business Alert and St. Louis Public Radio, tapped Anne Winkler, professor of economics, to discuss what looming federal job cuts might mean for the St. Louis region.
Eamonn Wall, the Smufit-Stone Corporation Professor of Irish Studies, was featured in the Irish Independent for leading the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day parade in St. Louis. Wall is a native of Enniscorthy, County Wexford, in Ireland and has lived and taught in St. Louis since 2000. The Independent noted Wall’s dedication to promoting Irish culture at UMSL with lectures, readings and concert series. He also leads a summer study abroad program at the University of Galway.
Jerome E. Morris, the E. Desmond Lee Endowed Professor of Urban Education, was recently voted president-elect of the American Educational Research Association. Several outlets and organizations carried news of the election, including AERA, News Wise and The St. Louis American. Morris joins the AERA Council in 2025 as president-elect, and his presidency begins at the conclusion of the association’s 2026 Annual Meeting. His selection also makes history as he becomes the first professor in the University of Missouri System to hold this position.
