Cartharn averaged 21.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while leading the UMSL Tritons to a pair of wins last week.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team wrapped a successful season Sunday, ending with a last-minute defeat in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship game. Two days earlier, the GLVC honored two UMSL Tritons players for their contributions over the course of the season. Senior goalkeeper Patrick Ream and sophomore back Tony Auck were named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Third Team.
Liz Drennan, sophomore forward on the University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s soccer team, ended her season on a high note. She scored both goals in the UMSL Tritons’ 2-1 overtime victory over Maryville University (Town and Country, Mo.) in the team’s Oct. 24 season finale. Drennan netted the game-winner just 38 seconds into the extra period.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis volleyball team will welcome five newcomers to a squad that returns seven players from last year’s team. The UMSL Tritons are coming off a 19-9 record in 2011, including a 13-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark, and are looking for another strong season.
Fifty-six University of Missouri–St. Louis student-athletes showed success both on the field and in the classroom. They were named to the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team.
Charlie Mohr, a junior utility player on the University of Missouri–St. Louis baseball team, spent his season posting high numbers in most offensive categories. He’s spending the off-season collecting accolades for his work on the field.

Jim Brady, head coach of the University of Missouri–St. Louis baseball team, joined an exclusive club this weekend. The UMSL Tritons 14-2 defeat of Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent University of Illinois Springfield Sunday (April 22) gave Brady his 700th career victory. He became only the 37th coach in NCAA Division II history to accomplish the feat.

Senior guard Troy Long of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s basketball team and head coach Steve Tappmeyer have been honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Long earned Second Team All-Midwest Region honors, while Tappmeyer was recognized as Midwest District Co-Coach of the Year.

Coming off a stellar week of singles and doubles play, University of Missouri–St. Louis sophomore Louisa Werner was named the Great Lakes Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week last week. Werner guided the UMSL Tritons at the Principia Tournament March 2-3 in Elsah, Ill., by going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles. Werner dropped just seven games throughout the entire tournament.
