UMSL students take action to promote tobacco-free campus

The University of Missouri–St. Louis fired up the second week of its UMSL Seriously Tobacco-Free campaign on Monday, and administrators weren’t the only ones taking the university’s tobacco-free policy seriously. Volunteer students handed out fliers with tobacco facts, cessation resource information and copies of the university policy during high traffic hours in the Quadrangle on North Campus.

Provocative headline, eh? It’s actually borrowed, slightly modified, from a December article in Forbes Magazine (“St. Louis Doesn’t Suck”). Forbes Writer Aaron Perlut, tired of the media dissing his adopted hometown, laid out a great case for all the good things about the city, from affordable housing and a strong employment base to rich cultural activities and a collection of outstanding education resources.
